Rebonded foam is made from shredded foam offcuts. The shredded foam chips are combined with a methane adhesive and compressed into block form, then steam cured. Foam that is reconstituted in this way can be made to high densities (ranging from 70kg/m3 to $150kg/m3) and hardnesses. Hardness increases with density.
Suitable in high impact situations where strong rebound or protection are required, rebonded foam uses include gym floor mats and firm seating, bumper and protective applications.
